IICSA’s Interim Report – An Overview

Over the last few weeks we have provided updates on the publication of the IICSA’s first two investigation reports – Rochdale and Child Migration. This week the IICSA published their Interim Report (“the Report”) as required by their Terms of Reference. The Report brings together the IICSA’s work to date following the five public hearings held, two investigation reports and a series of seminars discussing issues relevant to child sexual abuse. Consequences for the Charity Commission following renewed awareness of the importance of safeguarding in the charitable sector

The importance of safeguarding in all sectors should by 2018 be plain however, in particular, certain organisations within the charitable/NGO sector have seen attention focused on them in this regard recently. This has included Save the Children and Oxfam. Other charitable bodies in for example the faith and school sectors have also been the subject of intense scrutiny about their approach to safeguarding.  This has led to a significant increase in the volume of work for its regulator, the Charity Commission (‘the Commission’).
